“It was truly an honour to be part of the jury panel for such outstanding submissions for the awards. There was tough competition this year and many entries deserved loud accolades. I am proud to see the community come together and raising our standards of what makes a good architecture photograph.

Kudos to everyone who submitted and the winners for such a fabulous job !!”

“I was pretty excited by the level of photography for this years M-mode Awards. The shots that stood out to me were the shots that were technically great, captured the architecture well and incorporated a strong sense of narrative.

Given the competitions format in not surprised by the amount of great photos entered this year and I don’t see why it won’t become one of the toughest architectural photography competitions to win in the future.”

“So many standouts in this years M-mode Awards. A real pleasure to judge. The selected images launched off the feed.

Striking, emotive and technical.

I really enjoyed the playfulness in some of these! Hats off to all. Good luck to the finalists!”

“This year’s submissions featured an outstanding array of fantastic and fascinating spaces from across the globe.

The wonderful entries we’ve seen highlight both the immense passion and dedication that entrants often go to when trying to capture that perfect shot.

With over a thousand entries it has been a really tough decision to get to this stage. I think all the finalists should take pride in the unique accolade of being recognised by their international industry peers. Good luck to the eventual winner”

THE THANK YOUs & 2022 NEWS

A big thank you to our esteemed guest judges for giving up their time and energy in supporting the M.mode community this year, without them choosing and selecting our Top 10 it would’ve been a long and incredibly difficult decision.

2021 was an incredible year which saw an array of experienced and undiscovered talent put forward their work for selection with over 1300 entries.

ABOUT M.MODE CREATIVE

The M-mode community grew out of the first global lockdown in 2020 by founder Pete Helme. M.mode supports people from the interior & architectural photography community offering a platform to share their work, talk about their experiences, techniques and help each other.  It has grown into an inspiring space for members to learn from each other’s experiences and workflow.

To date M.mode has interviewed over 40 of the best photographers from around the world, had over 100 takeovers and amassed over 6000 members in the first 18 months.

I’ve been blown away with the support that I’ve received from not only the M.mode community but the photography community as a whole. Thank you for sending me the very kind words of support and feedback. What started as a bit of a side project to distract me from the pandemic and reach out to some of my inspiration has grown beyond my imagination.

I’m looking at growing M.mode with a wider source of contributors so they can be part of the growing community. I’m reaching out to see if anyone is interested in joining the team. I can’t promise any payment, however I’m looking for 5-10 photographers who are willing to write around 10 articles a year on a topic of their choice. Be it about new equipment, an inspiring photographer, a stand out project etc…

Do send me a message on Instagram if you’re interested.

I wish you all the very best in what 2022 brings.

Yours sincerely,

Pete

Mike Kelley (USA)

www.mpkelley.com/

Mike a photographer based in Los Angeles, California who specializes in photographing architecture; He also has a mild airplane obsession.

He grew up in Ipswich, Massachusetts: a small coastal town that's one part postcard and one-part dramatic Boston movie.  Here he was lucky enough to meet a number of amazing teachers who opened his eyes to the world of art and design; this would alter the path of his life in more ways than he could ever imagine.

After studying studio art and environmental science at the University of Vermont, he moved to Lake Tahoe, California, in hopes of becoming a professional snowboarder (graduating right after the '08 recession made this seem like a great idea). A couple of years and too many injuries later, he found himself taking up an offer to photograph a few homes for a client he'd met while recuperating.

What started by chance turned out to be the perfect mix of technical challenge and creative outlet, and he decided right there and then that it absolutely must be my career.

In 2018, he founded the Architectural Photography Almanac, a resource for architecture photographers and those in the architecture industry seeking to learn about the craft and theory of architectural photography.

Mike has enjoyed much published success photographing for a wide range of Architectural and Advertising clients worldwide.

Going back to the basics of photography through Lomography and later in Chicago documenting each and every building during her stay, this love inspired her to change her path completely.

She was lucky enough to get published very quickly and since has document many privileged projects with some fabulous architects and designers. She has had much published success and has never looked back.
