Anton & K’s House - A calming cottage retreat

An incredibly Instagrammable cottage shoot for Elle Decoration Country magazine.

This was a house shoot for Elle Decoration Country magazine, a beautiful quarterly supplement in addition to Elle Decoration. The house belonged to antique dealers, Anton and K and is filled with perfectly placed pieces of furniture, ceramics and artwork which are also for sale. Emma was working alongside the writer and stylist, Ali Heath for the full day shoot.

On arriving at the house, Emma saw it was light filled, clean and ready to go. This always makes such a difference on a house shoot when the owners have taken time to make the house ‘shoot ready’. Being able to get set up and ready to go is so invaluable, not only in a walk through where you’re gaining inspiration for the shoot, but also knowing that more can be spent getting shots rather than clearing the rooms ready to be dressed. Emma created her images using her trusty Canon 5d Mark III, 24-70mm lens and 50mm lens for portraits, tethered to her laptop onto Lightroom.

 ‘It is so beautifully curated, clean, crisp and beautiful and I think appeals to lots of people as how they ‘one day’ would like to live when they have dispersed of all their clutter!”

This house has been one of the most pinned, instagrammed and shared of Emma’s shoots. Anthony and Karen who lived there couldn’t have been kinder, letting the team do what they wanted, keeping them very well fed and watered (this is important!) and just being wonderful company. Emma has stayed in touch and has since been back to shoot the house for You magazine.
